Lady In The Water

Based on the horrible reviews, I didn't expect much. It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't great either. The story idea was pretty interesting, but was complicated & I found my attention drifting. I did like how the entire neighborhood pitched in to help Giamatti's character, but had trouble believing that everyone would "buy" the story so easily.

Children of Men

A very bleak view of the near-future. Britain is the only civilized country left on earth and it looks like Beruit. Their is a glimmer of hope at the end that caused a single tear to slide down my cheek. A very good movie, but not easy to watch.

The Descent

I love horror movies - if they're good. This movie does not disappoint. It's got a great set-up and premise and the "monster" is interesting. The ending is a little vague leaving you to figure out what really happened. I like that I'm not spoon fed and that the director trusts me to arrive at my own conclusion.

Dreamgirls

I have seen this musical twice on stage and own the original Broadway cast recording on CD & Vinyl. I love this music. So I was a little nervous that the movie wouldn't live up to it's hype. I shouldn't have worried...
This is a wonderful movie - made even better because of the presence of Jennifer Hudson. She is marvelous! I've seen a lot of movie musicals and never once have I felt the need to applaud after a song - I applauded twice - for both of Hudson's numbers. I also had tears streaming down my cheek during "And I Am Telling You..."
Beyonce does a very good job as well and after his performance, I have finally forgiven Eddie Murphy for "Party All The Time."
